Mann named October SDSU Career Service Employee of the Month
|Jaque Mann has been named as the October Career Service Employee of the Month at South Dakota State University.
A reception honoring her is set for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, in the Avera Health and Science Center, Room 378.
Mann works as the facility manager for the SDSU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She has worked at SDSU since 2008, and during that time, she has been responsible for the department’s physical facility in the Avera Health and Science Center.
According to her supervisor, Mann is responsible for the operation of the Avera Health and Science Center physical facility, departmental IT and computer support, routine maintenance and repair of instructional and research instrumentation, supervision of the instructional laboratory support facility and its staff and management of the liquid nitrogen and ethanol distribution facilities that the department operates for the campus.
Her supervisor also noted that Mann manages a diverse and complex portfolio of responsibility, making her a vital aspect of the department.
In letters of support, Mann’s co-workers said she knows everything involved with the department, and approaches her tasks with a friendly, professional demeanor and a “can-do” spirit. Co-workers described Mann as efficient, helpful, enthusiastic and dedicated to her job.
Mann lives with her husband Joshua in Brookings, where she is member of the Brookings Fire Department Auxiliary, the Brookings Police Reserves, a co-alumni adviser for the SDSU chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon professional sorority and a member of Alpha Chi Sigma professional chemistry fraternity.
In her spare time, Mann enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, geocaching, gardening, knitting, cooking, photography and spending time with family, friends and her two Shih Tzus, Roxy and Izzy.
All SDSU Employee of the Month selections are determined through a nomination process by the Career Service Advisory Council.
Each career service employee of the month receives an appreciation monetary gift from the F.O. Butler Foundation. The trustees of the foundation recognize the importance of career service employees and take this opportunity to thank them for their exemplary service.
