Honors Student Experience
Honors students describe themselves as motivated, determined, and creative. They want to be challenged, to be heard, and to make a difference, whether that means starting a book club or trying a hand at molecular biology research. As a student in SDSU’s Honors College, you’ll find programs designed specifically with your interests in mind.
Opportunities include:
- Honors College Living and Learning community. Located on the fourth floor of Matthews Hall, Honors students are invited to live with their peers in a stimulating, supportive, and fun academic environment.
- Honors College Student Organization. This offers Honors students a place to congregate outside class and find leadership, social, travel, and service experiences.
- Regional and National Honors Meetings. Students travel with other Honors students to places such as San Antonio, Texas and Washington, D.C. to hear renowned speakers, learn about other successful Honors programs and events, and present work to an audience of their peers.
- International travel. Visit destinations as diverse as China, Ireland, West Africa, Argentina, and the Arctic Circle. Get up close and personal with elephants or polar bears, study classic literature, or explore social justice issues. The opportunities are endless.
- Service learning. Honors students put their talents to use for the betterment of others through a close participation in an array of domestic, local, and international service projects.
- LEAD STATE. This exciting new program provides unique leadership development experiences for rising sophomore students.
