Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape and Parks Department

Preparing park managers, landscape designers, and horticulture producers and scientists for careers that grow

A diverse array of careers awaits graduates of the Department of Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape and Parks. As the nation’s population increases, the places where the natural world and humanity intersect continue to increase. Well-trained leaders will facilitate these interactions.

Horticulture students focus on the delicious and beautiful plants that make up the world. Our students receive not only training on fruit, vegetables, trees, flowers, and turfgrass, but also a concise, solid instructional course that prepares them to be leaders both in business and in the management of these crucial plants. Students can focus their coursework towards horticulture business, production, turfgrass, or food crops.

Our landscape-focused graduates can achieve greatness in careers where their scientific training can combine with their appreciation of nature. As stewards of the land with eyes for aesthetics, they shape the canvas of our world. Landscape architecture students can choose an emphasis either in landscape architecture or in design/build.

The Park Management and Recreation Administration program focuses on preparing site and/or systems managers for private, public, and quasi-public parks and recreation agencies. The program engages and motivates students to explore the numerous experiences and opportunities that will enhance their success as professionals.
