The Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization is sponsoring “Engagement, Partnership and Success—How industry and academia can work together to achieve success.
The list of speakers for the event includes:
·Diego Diel, SDSU Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences assistant professor. Diel has collaborations with multiple major animal health companies and will discuss how he engages with these companies and areas of success and failure in collaborative efforts.
·Kurt Cogswell, SDSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics department head and professor. Cogswell will discuss how his department is engaging and attempting to engage industry as a departmental effort. He will also share lessons learned during the process.
·Mel Usted, commercialization director, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and Nathan Lukkes, assistant vice president for research and economic development at the South Dakota Board of Regents. Usted and Lukkes will discuss the Governor’s Research Center proposal process and the need for industry engagement through collaboration and partnership as part of the application.
·Gary Archamboult, SBIR program director. Archamboult will discuss SBIR opportunities available for researchers and industry during collaborative efforts and best practices for SBIR applications.
·Dwaine Chapel, executive director of the Research Park at South Dakota State University. Chapel will discuss opportunities available at the Research Park for collaboration and industry engagement.
·Shane Swedlund, facility and engineering manager at Raven Industries. Swedlund will discuss what industry wants from sponsored research or collaboration and how an academic researcher can stand out in a competitive environment and make a connection to industry.
The event is open to the public.
