Programs in Studio Arts, Art Education & Graphic Design

The School of Design offers art and design studio and lecture experiences to all SDSU and University Center students, regardless of their major. Students pursue careers as artists, art educators, or graphic designers. The School offers a B.F.A degree with majors in Studio Arts and Graphic Design at our Brookings campus. Within the Studio Arts major students have a choice of Studio Arts or Studio Arts in Art Education degree paths. Disciplines to explore within the studio arts are animation, art history, ceramics, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Certificate Programs are also available in each discipline.

All School of Design students must maintain at least a major GPA of 2.6 on a 4.0 scale for the duration of the program. The Department Reviews are required of all majors to complete their degree. This department assessment program consists of three reviews that consider and evaluate students' development: the First Review (ART110), the Portfolio Review Jury on Student Progress (ART200) and the Senior Review (ART400).

For transfer students, a Transfer Review will be scheduled to determine acquired equivalent credit and course scheduling.
