The Construction and Operations Management (COM) department is one of six academic units in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering at South Dakota State University. Housed in history Solberg Hall, the COM department if home to degree programs in applied management, engineering technology and the general engineering non-degree sequence.

The mission of the Construction and Operations Management Department is to produce high quality program graduates through relevant and contemporary learning experiences and enhance the economic vitality of the region through applied research, technical assistance and service for our constituents.

Our departmental goals are:

  1. Achieve academic excellence via high quality programs, engaging our students, and providing innovative teaching and learning environments.
  2. Extend the reach and impact of the department in the community.
  3. Disseminate research, scholarship and expertise for the public good.
  4. Secure necessary resources to support our goals.
