UWW History
In 1974, Fayola Muchow approached SDSU's President, Dr. H.M. Briggs and Dr. Mary Frances Lyle, State Leader of Extension Home Economics with a dream she had for offering the opportunity for continuing education to the women of South Dakota, especially those in rural areas. With their support and Fayola's leadership, a committee was formed to plan the first University Week for Women, held in June, 1976. Today, UWW continues to be a source of lifelong learning for women of all ages and backgrounds.
