Disability Services

Our office, located in the Student Union (Room 065), provides assistance for students with a wide range of disabilities. Your first step is to fill out the Student Information Form, linked here or in Documents box at right. Along with this application, you’ll need to send documentation of the disability. After that, we’ll set up an appointment to discuss services we can provide that will enhance your learning experiences at SDSU.

Some of the ways we can help include:

  • alternative text formats
  • sign language interpreters
  • notetakers
  • assistive technology
  • alternative accommodations for exams (for example, testing in a distraction-reduced environment or providing readers for exams)
  • extended time for testing
  • referrals to other resources

Confidentiality
The Office of Disability Services respects your privacy and strives to treat all personal information with confidentiality.

Our office may release information to University faculty and staff when a “need to know” is established by Disability Services. The need to know must be based on compelling and legitimate educational reasons for the information disclosure. Generally, the faculty and staff do not need to know what your disability is.

If you are a student with a disability that makes the use of a standard “clicker” device difficult or impossible please do not buy a device at the campus bookstore. Instead please contact Instructional Design Services at 605.688.6312. IDS will assist you in obtaining an accessible version of the technology to fit your needs.
