The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center

Outside of the OLPAC

A state-of-the-art facility, The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center was built as a joint project between the university and the city of Brookings.

Building Description

The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center serves South Dakota State University, the Brookings community and the region. The center opened with a performance of "Chicago" and is home to concerts, theatrical and dance performances, special events and SDSU’s School of Performing Arts.

The center's name recognizes the vision and exceptional, unwavering generosity of the Pat and Dale Larson Family and the Larson Foundation.

A comprehensive facility, it provides spaces for both the instruction and performance in dance, music and theater. Developed by design architect Malcolm Holzman and acoustically engineered by David Kahn, the center proves that what an individual hears and sees during performances do correlate and that great art is made in great settings.

Events are held in the Larson Memorial Concert Hall, Fishback Studio Theatre, Oscar Larson Theatre and Founders Recital Hall.
