Hilton M. Briggs Library

Much more than books

When you walk through our doors, you’ll notice right away that we aren’t your grandmother’s library, and our staff won’t “shush” you. Rather, the Hilton M. Briggs Library is a high-tech facility that offers a personal touch in an open, comfortable environment.

The state’s largest and most comprehensive library, Briggs contains over one million books and documents and features 24-hour electronic access, connecting you to more than 200 databases and thousands of e-resources, no matter your location. Yes, even if you are at home in your robe and slippers.

We are an active teaching library that is continually evolving with the latest technological innovations. Every year, more than 300 classes are taught in our technology-enhanced classrooms and labs. We also feature a professional-level lab designed for graduate students and we provide a laptop checkout area. Plus, we offer dozens of computers, where anyone can use the library’s research databases, check email, or browse the web.

Open nearly 100 hours a week, our knowledgeable and caring faculty and staff is dedicated to service, whether in person, via email, or through chat options. “Blogging at Briggs” also gives you news and announcements about programs, services, and staff in Briggs Library.

Whether you want to study, conduct research or meet friends, make Briggs Library your connection.
